Listed as the "Thede Farmhouse" in the National Historic Register after the original owner, the house is more commonly known as the Stonehocker Farmhouse. While Thede is the name of the original owner, the Stonehocker family was the last to own the house before the City of Northglenn assumed ownership in the 1990's. The Stonehocker family continues to support of the work of the Historic Preservation Commission.
The Northglenn Historic Preservation Commission has worked to carefully preserve and lovingly restore the farmhouse since 1997. We invite you explore and learn more about this important landmark and what it means today. The Commission is currently working to restore the Thede House as a museum and cultural center, showing the history of homesteading in Colorado. The Northglenn Historic Preservation Foundation is currently in the process of setting up a fund to benefit the future construction of an events center on the property. Donations are currently being accepted to benefit this project. Click here to learn more about the work of the Foundation. |
